The Westie is a small compact earthbound rat terrier.  He stands about 11 inches high at the shoulder and has a tail the AKC says looks like a carrot! As legend goes, Malcolm, the breeder of Westies, had a Red One that was shot thinking it was a fox. At that point in time, he decided to breed out all colors and leave the Westie White!
